Mike’s DAZ3D First Impressions for April 1, 2021

Mike’s DAZ3D First Impressions for April 1, 2021

Today is April 1st, the one day of the year where you can’t trust anything you read on the Internet, except maybe my first-impressions of DAZ 3D new releases for the day.

March Madness is over, thank god! Was it a let-down or what? I really feel for those that bought a 3 month Platinum Club subscription in February just to take advantage of a March Madness that more impotent than a geriatric nursing facility.

Today’s release is mediocre at best. DAZ is giving us some PBR tile shaders, a dress for the G8 women, a “St. Patrick’s Diner” that is two-weeks overdue, a long-hair wig (with dforce!), two characters for Bugga Boo, toddler shoes, a merchant resource of stripes and camo, fit and flexible poses for G8 women, and a huge crying resource for G8 women.

Remember kids, in DAZ’s universe men are an afterthought. And apparently guys aren’t supposed to cry, nor stretch and get flexible for exercise.

And finally, please keep in mind that what follows isn’t a review. I haven’t purchased or downloaded these products yet. These are just my first-impressions of the product with a critical eye from the promo pages. So let’s get to it!

I hate April Fool’s, so no jokes here. I promise!

Todays’ song is: “Love and Paragraphs” by Chris Standring

DD PBR Tile Shaders for Iray

Set of 64 Iray tile materials from Digital Delirium.

Includes 1K, 2K, and 4K texture options, 8 separate colors, 8 separate patterns, 10 displacement presets, 5 normal presets, 5 roughness presets, 19 tiling presets, and 10 tiling offset presets. Whew!

What a huge set!

Y’all should know how I feel about shader packs like these. These are must-buys for me because you can always use them to resurface your old and current sets and props and breathe new life into them!

dForce Lady Dress for Genesis 8 Females

This is a long-sleeved, ruffled, short-dress from fefecoolyellow.

This is a simple straight-line dforce-enabled smock dress for G8F that’s got ruffled wrists and hem, and a very slight ruffled collar.

There are 10 adjustment morphs but this dress is designed to take full advantage of dforce draping on your figure and her pose.

15 different texture options are included.

St. Patrick’s Diner

This is an outdoor dining table set/ environment from bituka3d.

This is a nice set/ environment for a group of your figures sitting down to eat. It’s a medium-sized dining table with two benches, on a roofed patio, outside, surrounded by a privacy fence. There’s a small unfurnished room with French doors leading out. I’m guessing that’s supposed to be the kitchen? The dining table as adorned with beer, and St. Patrick’s Day themed napkins and other accessories.

This set is clearly meant to be rendered with the focus on the dining table and occupants which makes it all the more puzzling why it’s released today. St. Patrick’s day was 2 weeks ago. I can’t imagine there would that much interest in this product now.

Then again, if you’re up for some quick kitbashing this set can easly be transformed into a non St. Patty’s themed eatery quite easily!

Includes beer, food, candles, structure, fence, utensils, plants, plates, flowers, table garnishments, trees, and wine, among others.

Soft Classic Hair with dForce for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Females

Middle-part, long, flowing, dforce hair wig for G8 females from Linday.

The long, flowing hair has a middle-part and reaches down to the mid-back. It includes both a straight-style version of the hair, as well as a wavy-style.

A small amount of movement and adjustment morphs are included for both styles, but this hair relies on dforce for draping.

12 black, 10 blonde, 11 brown, and 10 red material presets are included, as well as various settings for dforce simulation.

Lady Cherry and Lady Bloom for Bugga Boo and Genesis 8.1 Female Bundle

This is a release of two new characters and wardrobe for the Bugbaoo character from Muscleman.

Includes two characters, wearable presets for both the Bugaboo character and G8F, 12 poses, several different material options for the figures including makeup and wardrobe.

I find this entire character concept to be weird AF and these figures creep me out.

PreT Girls Soft Shoes for Genesis 8 Females

Soft-soled shoes designed as shoes for dolls or G8F toddlers from elleque.

Includes 3 material sets, and multiple material options for the shoes, bow, lace, and sole. Including a rubber sole option.

Merchant Resource Knit Collection: Camouflage and Stripes

Sade gives a merchant resource of knit fabrics featuring stripes and camouflage.

The set includes 20 camouflage, 20 stripes, and 40 matching base color shaders.

Whether you’re creating your own clothes in MD or need to retexture some of your older clothes this looks like a good set.

Fit, Strong and Flexible Poses for Genesis 8 Female

This is a set of 30 stretching and warming-up poses for G8F from Scuffles3d.

This is a pose set of various stretching and warming up poses for your G8 female characters. Full body poses of you character stretching her upper and lower body.

Remember kids, in the DAZ universe men are an afterthought. LOL

Fortunately, with the exception of maybe 1 or two of these poses, they can be applied just be applied to G8M just fine.

Tear Jerker the Ugly Crying Builder for Genesis 3, 8 and 8.1 Females Merchant Resource

A merchant resource of various tears, shells, overlays, and textures for your female characters from ForbiddenWhispers.

Includes 10 pre-made presets, 25 tear materials, 7 snot materials, 14 additional tear materials, 3 types of mascara, 2 normal tears, blood snot, water snot, 13 blood shot eye materials, utilities to adjust geoshell strength or to convert them to and from G3 and G8 female.

Because apparently men aren’t allowed to cry in the DAZ universe.

That’s it for today!

Bugaboo really creeps me out. Sorry. I don’t know why.

And…

There’s no crying in baseball!

Have a great day, everybody!

You missed the banana suit and the invisible chair.

I can’t tell if you’re joking or not. The bananasuit was last year wasn’t it? Or was that 2019? I have it anyway.

I hadn’t ‘bought’ the banana suit so it showed up again, but I think the Invisible Chair is new this year.

I don’t see it so I may already have it? I have “hide purchased items” checked on the main page.

The only place you can see it is way down the buggaboo april fools page

https://www.daz3d.com/the-invisible-chair

(no props included)

I think the crying thing pisses me off. How hard is it to make men cry? I did buy a unisex crying set once, and it was clearly just designed for women. Most of the tears were for use with mascara, and while yes men wear it, why not clear options?

The st. Patrick set I would’ve bought closer to st. Patrick’s day. Next year I suspect it will be a daz original.

The soft classic hair is nice, and I like the promos. Almost makes me wish I rendered females. It looks good.

March Madness is over? Think again … At DAZ, March Madness stretches into, oh, probably this weekend at least. You’ll notice that the promo page still shows the March Madness banner, and the same promotions are in effect.

Incidentally, that Invisible Chair isn’t useless. It’s today’s Key Item, which means that you get 10% off new items and selected other stuff if you own or buy it. And its price drops to $0.00 if you put it in your cart, so essentially you’re getting 10% off for free. And it looks like it comes with a couple of sitting poses too.

The chair didn’t show up at 5:30am this morning when I started to put todays’ post together which is why it wasn’t included. If it’s not on the main store page by 5:30 I’m going to miss it. :frowning:

A friend bought he tears, and demonstrated they do fit on the male with autofit. So I bought it as well. I am curious now.
